CPD Offer for SEND

This group offers SEND leaders a chance to collaborate, share expertise, and improve SEND provision. It focuses on refining strategies, developing resources, and using data to drive improvement. The network is free for HFCMAT schools and £100 + VAT for schools outside the trust.

The HFCMAT SEND Subject Leader Network Group is structured around three key meetings held in Autumn, Spring, and Summer. Each session is designed to build upon the previous one, ensuring continuous progress and development throughout the year.

Together, these sessions create a continuous cycle of reflection, collaboration, and growth, equipping SEND leaders with the tools and insights needed to drive positive change in their schools.

Date & Time: 8th October 2024 – 14:00 – 16:00  

Location: Online 

The Autumn meeting will kick off the academic year by focusing on: Reviewing SEND Action Plans: Members will present their plans, sharing goals and strategies to foster collaboration. Auditing SEND Information: We will align on current SEND data and guidelines to establish a baseline for progress. Developing Shared Systems: The group will create standardised documentation and processes to enhance communication. Utilising Data: Analysing national and local data will help identify trends for regional improvement. Sharing Success Stories: Celebrating effective strategies from the previous year will inspire and motivate members.

Location: St Bernard’s RC Primary, Ellesmere Port 

In Spring, we will focus on implementing strategies and refining systems with activities such as: Progress Review: Members will discuss the successes and challenges of their action plans to foster a supportive environment. Resource Development: Collaborative work on shared toolkits and interventions will ensure consistency across schools. Professional Development: Identifying training opportunities for SEND staff will enhance skills and knowledge. Data-Driven Decision Making: We will evaluate the effectiveness of strategies using national and local datasets. Networking: Members will engage in networking sessions to share insights and advice.

Evaluation of Progress: Reflecting on the successes and challenges encountered throughout the year. Planning for Next Year: Establishing priorities and goals for the upcoming academic year based on insights gained. Celebrating Achievements: Acknowledging the collective efforts and successes of the group in supporting SEND students.

Ali has worked in Special Education for over 20 years, including 10 as a Head Teacher of an Outstanding day and Residential Special School in Cheshire. She has worked on projects like the SEND development of Oak National Academy, worked as a School Improvement Partner, been a member of Ofsted Head Teacher Reference group and been a Director of a Teaching School. Ali trained as an NLE and provided school to school support locally, regionally and nationally.
Ali Co Chairs the National Network of Specialist Provision and is a regional
representative for Managing Medicines in Special Schools.
Ali is now a Director of Specialist Education across a large, successful MAT in
Shropshire and Telford, supporting the strategic direction of special education across the Trust.
