This CPD series provides science leaders with the latest resources, updates, and strategies for ongoing improvement. Sessions focus on sharing best practices, discussing impactful initiatives, and moderating science learning across year groups.

Free to all HFCMAT schools. £100+VAT to schools outside the trust.

Each meeting will cover the latest resources, updates, and news to support the ongoing development of effective Science subject leaders. Strategies for new initiatives will be shared, along with tailored elements requested by subject leaders. Sessions include sharing good practices, where leaders discuss and reflect on initiatives they’ve implemented and their impacts. Quality Science teaching helps children understand their communities and wider global issues.

Location: St John Plessington, Bebington

At the start of the academic year, participants will assess the current state of Science in their schools against the latest Ofsted criteria. New subject leaders will be introduced to the audit process, while experienced leaders update their audits and share past impacts. Key Ofsted blogs and the Science Research Review will also be discussed.

This meeting is a joint primary/secondary session for science leaders and educators. We will identify and plan how to effectively support transition from KS2 to KS3. It will also include opportunities to evaluate the impact of actions from the previous term, share good practices and moderate learning.

Date & Time: 9th July 2025 – 13:30 – 15:30  

Location: St Mary’s, Wallasey

The session will address bespoke elements from the Spring Term, with a focus on fieldwork, moderation, and transition work to support all colleagues.
 

Kevin Lysaght has been a Secondary Science teacher for 12 years, having completed his PGCE at Liverpool Hope University. With a specialisation in Chemistry, he thrives on fostering practical competency in students. As the Curriculum Lead in Science at SJP for the past 4 years, he manages a team of 15 staff members. Kevin’s primary objective is to enhance teaching standards and learning practices by sharing best practices within the Trust’s network of schools.
