It was a morning of joy for Year 11 students at St John Plessington Catholic College, Bebington, today (Thursday, 22 August) as they collected their all-important GCSE results.

Students were filled with excitement as they returned to school, welcomed by senior leaders, to receive their long-awaited results.

Staff and students alike were delighted with this year’s results across all subject areas. There have been widespread improvements in many curriculum areas, including English and maths.

Year 11 student, Rebecca Martin, achieved five grade 9s, a grade 8, three grade 6s, a grade 5 and a distinction* and will go on to study psychology, English and Spanish.

Liz Joseph was also delighted with her results achieving an incredible four grade 9s, three grade 8s, a grade 7, a distinction* and a distinction. Liz will go on to study maths and business.

Fellow student, Amelia Jones, has secured her place at St John Plessington’s sixth form after achieving two grade 9s, two grade 8s, a grade 7, four grade 6s, and a distinction. Amelia has chosen three A-levels; biology, chemistry and English language. 

Lexi Downey has also opted to continue her studies at St John Plessington, where she will study Mandarin and maths. Lexi achieved a grade 9, five grade 8s, one grade 7, two grade 6s and a distinction. 

Jaydon Evans was thrilled after learning he achieved a grade 8, six grade 7s, two grade 6s, and a grade 5. Jaydon will join the sixth form and will study chemistry, biology and geography in September.

Other successes include Year 11 student, Sean Chinyanda, who achieved two grade 8s, five grade 7s, a grade 6 and a merit. 

Following their GCSEs, students will be moving on to further education, studying for A-levels and BTECs, with many Year 11s choosing to remain at St John Plessington to continue their studies at the sixth form.

One student is delighted to have secured their place in St John Plessington’s sixth form. Liz said ‘’I was very nervous but I was confident as I knew I worked hard and my teachers and parents were very supportive. I am very excited to return to St John Plessington sixth form to complete my A-levels to support me on my journey to becoming an accountant.

“During their time here, they have each demonstrated so much dedication and passion to their studies. We are so proud of them; they are a real credit to our school and the Holy Family Multi Academy Trust.

“A massive congratulations to all our students who collected their results today. We look forward to welcoming many of you back in September as part of our sixth form.”
