We are proud to announce the relaunch of The Element at it’s new site in Birkenhead, the initiative is designed to support young people who face challenges accessing mainstream education. Located in the heart of the Wirral, this provision reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the barriers they may encounter.
The Element offers a tailored educational environment for students aged 14-16 who may struggle with traditional school settings. With an emphasis on small-group learning, the provision focuses on nurturing confidence, resilience, and academic success, ensuring that students remain engaged with their education and future aspirations.
A Unique Approach to Education
The Element provides a curriculum designed to suit individual needs, incorporating core academic subjects alongside vocational training and personal development programs. This holistic approach ensures that students not only achieve academic progress but also gain the skills and self-belief needed to transition into further education, employment, or training.
A Vision of Inclusion and Opportunity
As part of the HFCMAT family, The Element embodies our vision of inclusive, supportive, and faith-led education.
Director of inclusion for the trust, Paul McColgan, said, “We are delighted that The Element is now fully open and operational, supporting young people who face barriers to mainstream education.
“The Element is home to students from all backgrounds and we are committed to delivering an innovative, inspiring and transformative curriculum that meets their individual needs.
Andrea Deans, head of The Element added, “Our therapeutic approaches and targeted interventions are designed to help our students reintegrate back into mainstream school when the time is right. Our vocational offering meets the individual needs and aspirations of each young person, ensuring they are supported to build the foundations for their future.”
The provision also supports the broader community by working in partnership with local organisations and employers, offering students access to valuable work experience opportunities and real-world learning.
A Positive Start
Since its launch, The Element has already made a significant impact, with students and families expressing their gratitude for the personalised support and opportunities it provides. The Trust is confident that this innovative provision will continue to grow and evolve, making a lasting difference in the lives of young people across Wirral.
